So where should you buy it from?  That depends on whether you want to buy online or in your town, so we’ll discuss both of these options.

Buy Playstation Move Bundles Online

Amazon.com is flat out the best place to buy Playstation Move bundles online.  So far they’re the only site that hasn’t run out of stock, and consistently have the best prices.  You might be put off by the fact that they’re charging the normal price for it, but when you factor in that you won’t have to pay sales tax in most states, and they’ll ship it to you for free, you’re saving a considerable amount of cash.

It’s also very common for Amazon to run specials that give you a $20 credit for specific Playstation Move games.  This is normally with the Console Bundle, but they have had it for the Starter Bundle as well.

Buy Playstation Move Bundles Locally

Your local game store (Game Stop, Game Crazy) will probably be your best shot for getting good prices.  Keep in mind that Playstation Move is still new and hot, so the odds of you finding a used one are slim.

The biggest advantage of going to a game store is that you’re able to trade in your old games for store credit towards the Move.  This isn’t exactly saving money since you’re selling your stuff, but it does lessen the dent in your wallet from paying for it.

Big box stores like Target and Walmart may have Move in stock, but I wouldn’t count on it.  If you want to take that route, call them ahead of time to see if they have it in stock so that you’re not wasting your time driving around.

Buying a Playstation Move bundle is the best way to get started with Move.  It saves money over buying everything separately, and has everything that you need to get into the game!

I won’t lie, along with my PS3 and Move I also have a Wii.  The problem with it is that it feels like you’re playing an antique when you go back and forth between it and Move.  Everything about Wii just feels old and sluggish.  There are a ton of great games (which we’ll talk about in a bit) and the price is very hard to beat!  If you’re looking to get into gaming, but don’t want to drop $400 to get started with PS3, the low price of Wii makes it an easy sell.

If you aren’t familiar with high definition gaming (PS3 or Xbox 360) then the sound and graphics that the Wii has won’t be a big deal at all.  The best games for Wii are generally the ones made by Nintendo themselves.  This means that you’re going to be playing a lot with the characters that you’re already familiar with like Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Kirby, James Bond (in the new Goldeneye) and Samus from Metroid.  Games themselves run $10 less then PS3 games at $50 new. The biggest advantage that Playstation Move games have over the Wii is that there are a lot of third party developers that are making big budget games, which leads to much more diversity in your game selection.

As far as the hardware goes you don’t really get a whole lot from Wii, but that’s expected with it’s low price.  Without a software modification you can’t use it as a DVD player, whereas PS3 has Blu Ray built right in.  The online options are also pretty limited, but that’s because of the games that are out.  Most are developed for play at home with your family.  Goldeneye, which is a remake of the Nintendo 64 hit, does take Wii into serious online multiplayer.

Kinect Starter Bundle

There’s a ton of debate about whether Playstation Move or Kinect is the better choice.  I’m a total PS3 fanboy, but I can say that Kinect is pretty damn cool!  I’ve had a couple of opportunities to play it, and thought the entire experience was very impressive.

The problem with Kinect is that the games for it really aren’t that good right now.  In my opinion Microsoft spent too much time promoting how great the hardware is, and not enough time developing great games for it.  The Playstation Move games that are already out are way ahead of the Kinect games lineup that is due out over the next several months.

With that being said, playing Kinect really feels like you’re in the future.  Gesture controls is where the future is, and Microsoft is definitely in control.  It’s expected that some sort of Kinect-like device will accompany the next version of Windows, and with that you will be able to control your entire computer simply through gesturing at it.

My final verdict is that Kinect is awesome, but the games aren’t there yet.  Maybe by the middle of 2011 and beyond it will be able to catch up, but the way it’s looking right now Playstation Move is the smarter choice.

However, it’s important to me that you make the best choice for you and your family. If you have a younger kids, Kinect or Wii might be the better choice than Playstation Move. This is very unlike a lot of other games that have hit the scene recently. Instead of going through and thoroughly testing and polishing it, they put the title out there and then fix any problems later on with updates. It’s hard to say which method is better, or that LBP2 won’t have any updates, but I feel that with a game like this it has to be good from the start.

It’s still another four days for us to get it here in the US, but that’s not going to stop me from changing all of those preorder buttons to buy now.
